The Greek language has evolved a lot over the centuries. It first existed in the form of Ancient Greek, then evolved into Greek koinè, then transformed into Medieval Greek and finally into Modern Greek. It is the latter that is now learned, spoken and written in Greece, Cyprus and by the many Greek communities around the world. However, it shares the same alphabet, spelling and 75% of the vocabulary of ancient Greek.
Studying Greek is particularly important in the fields of art, literature and science, and Greece is known for its tourism and all the historical, religious and literary heritage that still fascinates us today.
