CHRISTINE MAI’S INTERVIEW

For this second interview, we welcome Christine Mai, Director of AplusA Research, the French leader in market research in the health sector. She explains how talent from all over the world is a real asset to her company

HOW HAS YOUR JOB CHANGED IN THE LAS 20 YEARS?

Over the past 20 years, one of the major changes in our business has been the definition of the world and a global market. Twenty years ago, the global market consisted of the United States, five major European countries and Japan. That was the definition of the world, according to the pharmaceutical industry.

Over the past 15 years, the so-called emerging countries have appeared. These countries have become as important to our customers as the major markets.

Finally, we went from website programming, from data collection that was in two or three languages to website programming in Korean, Indonesian, extremely diverse languages. And that allows us to reach everyone and to base our analyses on the experiences of each of these people, wherever they are in the world and in their country. We are fortunate to attract talent from all over the world, including Latin America, Argentina, New Zealand, Australia and Turkey. Even in Lyon, simply in these offices, we have more than 15 nationalities. It’s a real asset for our company because they challenge us by their way of being, by their questions. They surprise us and therefore, they help us to be more open.

This openness is in the company’s DNA. This is what makes us strong, this is what makes our employees strong and talented. I am convinced that this openness will increase even further. Twenty years ago, we were in the early stages of this movement, this movement of young talent. We went looking for them 20 years ago, now they come to us.
