MARIO IGIER’S INTERVIEW

For this interview, we welcome Mario Igier, President of Truck Plus. He talks about the limits of digital transformation.

IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT ARE THE LIMITS OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION?

The limits to transformation are linked to the fact that today we have no limits, that is, there’s always more development, more applications. We always want more. We always ask for more from the digital system. As a result, as soon as we’ve developed a product, an additional tool, an app, it’s practically obsolete because we already have to start updating them. This has to be repeated two, three years later. Everything moves too fast.

This continuous, rapid, yet necessary development, requires people to invest energy that could have been devoted to their real work.

What I think we should be doing now is taking a step back, getting our minds around what’s been created, spending time to really use it before we can take it to the next level. Of course, as we said, everything happens really quickly. If we take too long, we may lose out. It’s difficult to find this balance.

I think we can manage to take a break of six months, maybe a year, to really absorb the applications because we realize that people have not taken everything in. We make them new things and they forget about the others and in the end, not everything is used because we have too many.
