History of the Language: Translation into Turkish

Many of our clients use ITC Translations for their translations into Turkish. Turkish is one of the Turkik languages spoken by some 200 million people around the world, particularly in the Middle East, Northwest Asia and Europe. Although its origins go back several centuries with influences from Arabic, Greek and Persian origins and borrowings from European languages such as German, French and Italian, the Turkish alphabet came into being in 1928 under the impetus of Kemal Atatürk, who wanted to romanize the language and use the Latin alphabet. In turn, the Turkish language has been able to exert influence on neighboring countries, particularly in North Africa and the Balkan region, thus exporting some terms or expressions.

Specific features of the Turkish language

The Turkish language is mainly spoken in Turkey and Northern Cyprus, but due to the international immigration of its inhabitants, it is present in many other, mainly European countries. This language has many features, such as the fact that it is an SOV (subject-object-verb) language that is agglutinative, nearly phonetic and has no articles or gendered nouns.

Turkey benefits from a key geographical position: it is a country bordering Europe and Asia but is part of the Balkans, the Caucasus and the Middle East. This situation, reinforced by its economic and social development, the expansion of tourism and industrial growth in the automotive, metallurgical, oil and food industries, is attracting many companies.
